The Sneak Attack, when they come up behind you and puts their arms around your chest. Someone who grabs you like this is in love. It displays their strength and dominance. They could also be avoiding hugging face-to-face because they're worried you're not into them.
The Rub Gentle strokes on your back. This affectionate gesture signifies that they care deeply about you and shows that they want to nurture and protect you. It's also possible that they're upset and need comforting, subconsciously, that's what they're desiring.
The Pat Thumping your upper back during an embrace. This hug is loaded! It could mean they're not into you. They could be secretly mad at you. If they pat you when you're about to do something scary, that's a gesture of encouragement. If you're in public, it could simply mean they don't like PDA. If they're preoccupied don't take it personally.
The Waist Wrap They encircle you their hands and pull you tightly in. They definitely want you. If they touch their head with yours, then they want to merge your thoughts.
