Dining Alone

Many people feel self-conscious eating alone in public. The fear of looking like a friendlessis on the rise. Personally, I love dining alone! You have the chance to meet new people, you can people watch, and clear your head. So if you have the fear of eating alone in public, here's some tips for trying it out...

Tell Yourself it's OK

Change your view on people who are eat alone. Maybe they don't feel like cooking, maybe they're travelling...

Food is Numero One for the night!

Being alone means you don't have to share, talk, or negotiate. Eat dessert first! Order a buncha appetizers and skip the main. Do what you want!

Prop it up, if ya have to

Don’t feel bad if you want to bring along your laptop, BlackBerry or book.

Insist on the best experience

This means you choose the seat, the treatment and the atmosphere. If you want to flirt with your waiter/waitress, go ahead! If you don't want any chit-chat, tell them that. Don’t be afraid to demand better.

Stay solo

If you see people you know, don’t feel obliged to accept an invitation to join their table.

Lastly...

Don't assume others pity you. They’re much more interested in what they're doing.
