Weiser Locks gave me some Home Safety tips to pass along for Halloween....
- Don't leave your door unlocked while trick-or-treating with your kids, even if it's only on your block.
- Stick close to home as vandals target homes where everyone is clearly away
- Keep your door locked after each group of trick-or-treaters
- Don't allow anyone in your house, big or small, even for an 'emergency' phone call. Offer to make it for them if you feel compelled to do so
- Don't feel you have to answer the door to late night trick-or-treaters, or you may be getting a nasty treat
- Make sure your address is clearly visible, incase you do need the police to come to your aid
- Is your backyard secure? Think of a fence and bushes if you don't feel secure
- Make sure all exterior doors have deadbolts that have at least a 1" throwbolt
